Where to Find Halal Food in Albania: A City-by-City Guide

Reading Time: 5 minutes

If you’re looking for halal food outside Tirana….. I hope you like pizza.

You’ll find a few traditional restaurants and grills, but overall many of the halal options I found are fast food. Here’s a city-by-city guide to help you find your next dinner.

Researched October 2026. Listings and restaurant claims aren’t independently verified certification. Confirm your requirements directly, including meat sourcing, preparation, and alcohol policies.

Tirana: traditional food and quick meals

Tirana gives you more variety than most other cities in Albania, with options for both a quick shawarma and traditional Albanian food. For more places to eat, plus hotels and mosque access, see my Muslim-friendly Tirana guide.

Ali Baba Hallall

Ali Baba serves shawarma, kebabs, burgers and Middle Eastern fast food, making it an option for a quick lunch or dinner. Its Baboon listing describes the business as 100% halal.

Egra Restorant Tradicional Hallall

If you’d prefer traditional Albanian cooking, Egra is another place to check. It presents itself as a halal restaurant, but ask staff about the dishes you’re interested in and how the meat is sourced.

A quick note: Halal certification hasn’t been independently verified for either restaurant in this guide.

Durrës: check the neighborhood pizzerias

Durrës offers a couple of promising options beyond another pizza, including Turkish food by the waterfront and French tacos in the city centre.

Vollga Shije Turke

Located near the Vollga waterfront, this Turkish restaurant serves kebabs, lahmacun and pizza. It’s listed as halal, with customer reviews also mentioning halal meat and no pork or bacon. Alcohol may be served.

Before ordering: Neither restaurant’s halal certification has been independently verified for this guide. Ask staff to confirm their current meat suppliers and preparation practices.

Shkodër: halal pizza in Dërgut

Pizzeri Sidi Hallall in Dërgut has a Wolt listing that explicitly promotes halal pizza. Its menu includes pizzas and sandwiches made with pizza dough.

For meat toppings, confirm the ingredients and sourcing rather than assuming every product with an unfamiliar Albanian name is suitable.

Nearby: Velipojë

If your trip includes the beach, KRONI in Velipojë states on its own website that it offers halal, vegetarian, and vegan options, alongside pizza and seafood.

That wording refers to available options, so ask which dishes qualify when ordering.

Elbasan: halal-labelled takeaway options

Wolt’s Elbasan listings include:

  • Pizzeri Kaba Halal
  • Point Food Halal
  • Pizzeri Kreperi Argjendi Hallall

These are starting points for pizza and casual meals. Check individual menus and current availability; a delivery listing doesn’t establish independent halal certification.

Berat: traditional Albanian food at Chef Toska

Chef Toska & Wildor Restaurant, on Rruga Antipatrea, makes one of the clearest public claims found during this research: its website says its dishes use halal-certified ingredients and describes its food as halal.

The menu combines Albanian and Italian cooking, making it an option for travelers who want a sit-down meal rather than fast food. If you need to see certification details, request them directly.

Vlorë: Hallall Pizza Vlora

Hallall Pizza Vlora, listed on Rruga Onufri, is a local pizzeria with halal in its business name and supporting customer reviews.

This recommendation is based on directory listings and reviews. Its suppliers and certification haven’t been independently verified for this guide, so confirm directly before ordering meat toppings.

Sarandë: traditional meals near Mango Beach

Sophra Restaurant, near Mango Beach on Butrinti Road, states on its own website that its chicken, lamb, and beef are halal, sourced from Kasapi i Prizrenit.

Its cooking includes wood-oven dishes, tavë kosi, byrek, and seafood. The published sourcing information gives you something specific to ask about before dining. Confirm seasonal opening arrangements, especially outside summer.

Ksamil

If you’re heading to Ksamil, here are two places to check for halal food between beach days.

Bro’s Fast Food

Bro’s Fast Food on Apollonia Street is listed as using only halal meat. You can contact them on Instagram at @bros_fastfood_ksamil to ask about the menu and confirm they’ll be open during your visit.

The Albanian search trick

Try these searches in Google Maps, Instagram, and delivery apps:

SearchWhat you’re looking for
restorant hallall + cityHalal restaurants
piceri hallall + cityHalal pizzerias
ushqim hallall + cityHalal food
mish hallall + cityHalal meat and suppliers

Repeat with “halall” and “halal.” Businesses use different spellings, and some useful listings are entirely in Albanian.

Is all meat in Albania halal?

Don’t assume it is. Check the individual restaurant and dish. A halal-labelled business, halal meat supplier, and certified restaurant provide different kinds of information.

Can a restaurant serve halal meat and sell alcohol?

A meat-sourcing claim doesn’t tell you the restaurant’s alcohol policy. If you want an alcohol-free venue, confirm that separately.

What if I can’t find a suitable restaurant?

Consider cheese or spinach byrek, vegetable dishes, bean dishes, or fish that fit your requirements.
