Where to Buy Modest Wedding Dresses in Albania

Reading Time: 4 minutes

Albanian wedding dresses aren’t exactly known for being shy. Sparkling corsets, sheer panels and plunging necklines are everywhere.

But modest options do exist, including dresses created specifically for hijabi brides. The key is knowing where to look and being very clear about coverage before you book a fitting.

Firdeus Muslim Fashion

Firdeus Muslim Fashion is one of the best places to start. The Tirana boutique specializes in modest clothing and has featured bridal gowns with long sleeves, high necklines and full coverage.

It also offers hijab and scarf styling, which can make coordinating the entire look much easier.

The boutique has also offered bridal veils, professional makeup and bridal hijab styling. Ask which dresses and bridal services are currently available before visiting.

It has locations in Tirana and Shkodër and carries a small selection of full-coverage wedding dresses alongside its regular modest clothing. Contact the shop first to check current styles and sizes.

What Muslim Brides Should Check

Long sleeves do not automatically make a wedding dress hijab-friendly. Albanian gowns often use nude mesh, sheer lace, transparent corset panels or open backs that may not be obvious in edited Instagram photographs.

Before ordering, confirm that the dress has:

  • Fully lined sleeves and bodice
  • A high enough neckline
  • A completely covered back
  • No nude mesh or transparent panels
  • Enough matching fabric for your hijab
  • A private fitting with female staff, if required

Bring your intended hijab or a similar scarf to the fitting so you can compare the color, fabric and embellishment.

You can send the boutique this message:

Përshëndetje. Po kërkoj një fustan nusërie modest, me mëngë të gjata, astar të plotë dhe pa pjesë transparente. E mbaj hixhabin. A realizoni fustane me porosi dhe prova private me staf femër?

It means:

Hello. I’m looking for a modest wedding dress with long sleeves, full lining and no transparent sections. I wear hijab. Do you make custom dresses and offer private fittings with female staff?

Useful Albanian Search Terms

  • Fustan nusërie modest: Modest wedding dress
  • Fustan nusërie i mbyllur: Covered wedding dress
  • Me mëngë të gjata: With long sleeves
  • Me astar të plotë: Fully lined
  • Pa pjesë transparente: Without transparent sections
  • Me porosi: Made to order
  • Me qira: For rent

Renting or Ordering a Custom Dress

Renting will usually cost less, but you may only be allowed to make small temporary alterations. A cape, bridal jacket or extra lining can add coverage if the dress is already fairly modest.

If you need major changes, a custom dress will usually be easier. Confirm the fabric, coverage, fittings, final price and completion date in writing before paying a deposit.

Start contacting boutiques around 4 to 6 months before the wedding, especially if you need a custom gown. If you’re ordering from abroad, request a measurement chart, fabric videos in natural light and photographs from every angle before the dress is shipped.
