Best Gyms in Vlorë: Prices & Comparisons

Reading Time: 12 minutes

I spent a ridiculous amount of time comparing gyms in Vlorë. I looked at the equipment, prices, location, space, air conditioning and how crowded each place became after work. A gym can look great in a few Instagram photos and still be miserable at 6 p.m. in August.

By no means is this a list of every gym in Vlorë, I picked the ones I thought offered the most upscale and modern environments that a foreign visitor would feel comfortable in.

Overall, I think Patio, Power 19, Level and Golden are the strongest choices. Champs and City Fitness may also work well, depending on your budget and location. If a solid gym routine is important to you, stay near the center or Old Town rather than Cold Water or Old Beach.

Price note: I photographed several of these price lists myself earlier this year, while other prices came from recent expat reports. Gyms in Albania don’t always keep their websites or social media pages updated, and some offer different rates for men and women. USD conversions use 81 LEK to $1 based on the Bank of Albania rate in late September 2026.

1. Patio Pool & Gym: best facilities in Vlorë

Photos from @https://www.instagram.com/patiopoolgym/ & my own

If you want the closest thing Vlorë has to a full fitness club, Patio is it. It has a gym, swimming pool and sauna, and it is one of the most spacious options in town. The setting feels more like a family-friendly leisure club than a neighborhood weight room.

American visitors may also notice a fun surprise: some of Patio’s cardio machines have purple Planet Fitness branding on them. No, there isn’t secretly a Planet Fitness franchise in Vlorë, but seeing that familiar purple equipment in an Albanian gym is sweet reminder of home.

You’ll often see families at Patio because the pool offers swimming classes for children. The upstairs gym was designed with parents in mind, allowing them to work out while their kids are downstairs at swimming lessons. That makes Patio convenient for families who want to combine several activities in one place.

Patio also makes sense for adults who will genuinely use the extras. If you swim regularly, like having sauna access or want enough room to train without constantly squeezing around other people, the higher price can be worth it.

If you only want weights and cardio machines, the full membership is probably overkill. You can buy gym access by itself without paying for the pool and sauna.

My verdict: Patio is the best choice for facilities, space and swimming. It is not the best value if you will only lift weights for an hour and leave.

2. Level Gym: a polished, modern option

Photos from https://www.instagram.com/levelgym.bodymind/ & my own

Level is one of the newest and most polished gyms in Vlorë. The machines are modern, the space is attractive and it has the clean, put-together look many foreigners expect from a gym. One of my friends joked that it’s also the place for the “booty building divas” since they have so many butt building machines.

It’s probably considered midsize by Vlore standards and perhaps small by American. It’s more of a boutique style gym. You get a noticeably nicer environment than the older budget gyms without paying Patio prices. For someone who wants a conventional gym with good machines and no need for a pool, it’s a good option. Unfortunately, their AC does run quite weak in the warmer months so keep that in mind.

Level also publishes clear membership options on their IG, including discounted rates for longer commitments. Like several gyms here, they offer a ladies discount.

Level Gym prices

Membership Women Men
Day pass 500 LEK, about $6
One month 4,500 LEK, about $56 5,500 LEK, about $68
Three months 11,000 LEK, about $136 14,000 LEK, about $173
Six months 15,000 LEK, about $185 18,000 LEK, about $223
One year 25,000 LEK, about $309 30,000 LEK, about $371

Prices were photographed earlier in 2026 and may have changed. Confirm the current rate directly with Level before paying.

My verdict: Level is a strong option if you want newer equipment and a polished environment. Visit during your normal workout hours before deciding.

3. Power 19: best for CrossFit, strength and community

Photos from https://www.instagram.com/_power.19_/

Power 19 began mostly as a CrossFit gym, but should no longer be dismissed as a place with nothing but barbells and group classes. It recently added a large collection of shiny new machines, and the result is one of the most beautiful fitness spaces in Vlorë.

The bigger difference is the community.

Most gyms are places where people arrive with headphones, avoid eye contact and disappear after their final set. Power 19 is much more social. Members organize weekend excursions, including hikes, and several expats describe the community as the best part of the gym.

That makes it especially appealing if you are new to Vlorë and want to meet people while getting back into a routine. Building a social circle can be one of the harder parts of moving to Albania, so a gym with an actual community has value beyond the equipment.

Power 19 also has parking, which is worth mentioning in a city where finding a convenient space can become its own workout.

My verdict: Choose Power 19 if you like CrossFit, serious strength training or the idea of joining a real community.

4. Golden Gym: the established expat favorite

Photos from https://www.instagram.com/goldengym_vlore/

Golden Gym has been an expat favorite for years. It’s large enough, well equipped and established, and a lot of foreigners already know it. The location is also pretty accessible for people who stay in either Lungomare, Transbalkanike, or Central Vlore. But, the downside is exactly what you would expect from a popular gym: crowds.

Golden is one of the busiest gyms in the city, especially after work. The lack of strong air conditioning also becomes much more noticeable when the room is full.

Reported Golden Gym prices

Membership Reported price Source note
One month About 5,000 LEK ($62) Reported by expat
One year, general rate About 25,000 LEK ($309) Reported by expat
One year, women About 20,000 LEK ($250) Reported by expat
One year, men About 28,000 LEK ($350) Reported by expat
These prices are not confirmed. Reports vary, and I have not stopped by Golden Gym to check the current price list myself. Contact the gym directly to confirm its monthly and annual rates before joining.

My verdict: Golden is a dependable, well-liked choice with plenty of equipment. Visit at the exact time you expect to work out. A quiet tour at 11 a.m. will not tell you what the place feels like at 6 p.m.

The best mid-range gyms in Vlorë

Champs: spacious and practical

Photos from https://www.instagram.com/champs_fitness_gym/?hl=en

Champs does not feel as new or glossy as Level or Power 19, but it has one major advantage: room. Along with Patio, it is one of the most spacious gyms in Vlorë.

Even a slightly older gym with enough space can be much more pleasant than a gorgeous small gym where you’re waiting 30 minutes for every machine.

Champs has a more straightforward, energetic atmosphere and works well for someone who cares more about getting the workout done than having an Instagram-ready background.

I would tour it before joining and ask for the current prices, since I don’t have a recent photographed rate card.

My verdict: A solid practical option, especially if space matters more to you than new finishes.

City Fitness: convenient, affordable and crowded

Photos from https://www.instagram.com/city_fitness_club/

City Fitness is a central, accessible gym with a mixed crowd and plenty of women. It also opens early and offers day passes, which makes it easy to test before committing.

The biggest issue is crowding. City Fitness and Golden are the two places most likely to feel packed, and the limited air conditioning can make a summer workout uncomfortable very quickly.

My verdict: City Fitness is convenient and has a comfortable mixed crowd, but I would avoid peak evening hours, especially in summer.

Other gym options in Vlorë

Vlorë also has several smaller neighborhood gyms and fitness studios that may be worth checking based on your location and price

  • Nirvana Fitness Club
  • Fredi Gym
  • FitnessBox
  • Life Fitness Gym
  • Kalosnep Fit & Shape

Free outdoor gym in central Vlorë

You don’t necessarily need a gym membership to get in a basic workout. There is a free outdoor fitness area beside Vlorë’s Clock Complex and central market.

The equipment includes pull-up bars, seated strength machines, air walkers and other simple outdoor stations. It will not replace a fully equipped indoor gym, but it works well for bodyweight exercises, light resistance training or an occasional free workout.

The summer AC problem nobody warns you about

Air conditioning is a weakness across gyms in Vlorë. Even the nicer facilities may not cool the room as aggressively as an American gym, and some barely cool it at all.

In winter, that may seem irrelevant. In July and August, it can decide if you actually use the membership you paid for. Add a packed room, limited airflow and 30 people working out, and the temperature gets rough fast.

Golden Gym and City Fitness are the biggest crowding concerns. This doesn’t make them bad gyms, but timing matters. If your schedule is flexible, train in the morning or early afternoon. In fact, all gyms in town are usually pretty empty in the mornings.

If you can only exercise after work, visit each gym during evening rush hour before you sign a long contract. Bring water and a towel. Do not assume there will be icy air blasting from the ceiling just because the gym looks modern.

For a broader look at workout culture, Pilates and outdoor exercise, read my guide to fitness in Albania.

Where should you live in Vlorë if gym access matters?

The center of Vlorë and the Old Town area are the best places to live if you want several gyms within easy reach. You will have more choice, and you are less likely to build your entire routine around one facility simply because it is the only one nearby.

This is especially useful for people staying without a car. Vlorë looks compact on a map, but crossing town for every workout gets annoying, especially in heavy traffic or summer heat.

The worst areas for gym access are Cold Water, also called Uji i Ftohtë, and Old Beach, or Plazhi i Vjetër.

Both areas have benefits. Cold Water has sea views, newer apartments and quick access to the promenade. Old Beach can be quieter and more affordable. But neither is a good base for serious gym choice.

If fitness is a major part of your daily life, do not choose an apartment in those neighborhoods based on the view alone. Check the walking or driving route to your preferred gym first.

My guide to monthly rentals in Albania can also help you avoid committing to the wrong area before you understand the city.

How to choose the right gym in Vlorë

Do not pick a gym from Google ratings alone. Many local listings have glowing ratings that tell you very little about crowding, summer heat or the condition of the machines. Before paying for several months, I would do five things:

1

Buy a day pass

Most gyms charge around 500 to 1,000 LEK, or roughly $6 to $12. Test the space before committing.

2

Visit at your usual time

A gym can feel completely different at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Visit when you would normally work out.

3

Check the equipment

Do not assume a gym has a hip thrust machine, enough squat racks or your preferred cardio equipment.

4

Test the air conditioning

Better yet, feel the room for yourself on a hot day. Summer heat can completely change the experience.

5

Get the price in writing

Ask what the membership includes, if rates differ for men and women, and if cash and card prices are different.

Do not rush into an annual membership. Try a few gyms, learn your routine and make sure you like your neighborhood first. A discounted membership is not a bargain if you stop using it after a month.

So, what is the best gym in Vlorë?

There is no single winner for everyone, but the decision becomes fairly simple once you know what you value:

  • Best facilities: Patio Pool & Gym
  • Best community and strength training: Power 19
  • Best established expat favorite: Golden Gym
  • Most spacious: Patio and Champs
  • Most polished conventional gym: Level Gym
  • Best convenient central option: City Fitness
  • Best area to live for gym choice: the center or Old Town

Most importantly, choose the gym you will actually use. The fanciest facility in Vlorë is worthless if it is a 25-minute drive through traffic, packed at your preferred hour or so hot in August that you dread going.
