A healthy routine can easily slip when you move to another country. Fortunately, Albania has plenty of ways to stay active, from modern gyms and women-only fitness centers to seaside running paths, yoga groups and martial arts training.
Here is where to work out, exercise outdoors and find fitness equipment in Tirana, Vlorë and Durrës.
Fitness and Wellness in Tirana
Tirana has Albania’s widest choice of gyms, studios and group classes. It also has one of the country’s best outdoor spaces for walking, running and cycling.
Running and Walking at the Grand Park
The Grand Park of Tirana and Artificial Lake is the city’s main outdoor fitness hub. The wide paths around the lake are popular with runners, walkers and cyclists, especially in the mornings and around sunset.
Weekends are busier, with families, exercise groups and occasional outdoor yoga or dance classes gathering around the park. It is a welcome escape from Tirana’s traffic and uneven city sidewalks.
Outdoor Zumba sessions have also taken place near the lake on Saturday evenings for around 500 lek. These community events can change with the season, so check local Facebook groups before heading over.

Yoga and Group Fitness
Tirana Yoga offers yoga, meditation and wellness classes in the capital. Its website includes the current class schedule, workshops and information about the different styles of yoga available.
Tirana also has a large selection of traditional gyms. City Fitness is one of the better-known options and offers modern equipment, classes and personal training.
A standard gym membership in Tirana generally costs around €25 to €40 per month. Premium gyms with extras such as swimming pools and saunas can cost closer to €50 to €80. Prices and included services vary considerably, so ask about day passes or short-term memberships before committing.
If you hire a personal trainer, be clear about what you want from the start. Some women have found that trainers automatically create glute-heavy routines unless given more specific goals. Ask directly for the type of strength, mobility, conditioning or weight training you actually want.

Ladies-Only Gyms in Tirana
Tirana also has several fitness centers created specifically for women. Palestra Ladies Gym, Motivation Gym for Women and Power Girls Gym provide alternatives for women who feel more comfortable exercising in a women-only environment.
Available classes may include aerobics, CrossFit-style workouts, Zumba and other forms of group fitness. Check each gym’s social page for current membership prices, opening hours and class schedules.

Sportswear and Foot Support
You can find international athletic brands at Intersport Albania, Nike and several of Tirana’s larger shopping centers. Berlintexx is also worth checking for discounted sportswear, leggings and supportive sports bras, while Tezenis Albania carries lighter activewear and basic sports bras.
My guide to shopping for American and European brands in Tirana has more information about the city’s malls and clothing stores.
If foot or knee pain makes exercise difficult, Zen House offers FootBalance assessments and custom insoles in Tirana. Their machine-assisted fitting service can be helpful if you need more support inside your everyday shoes or trainers.

Fitness and Wellness in Vlorë
Vlorë has fewer large gyms than Tirana, but the city’s waterfront makes outdoor exercise part of everyday life. The flat terrain around the center is also convenient for walking, cycling and running.
Walking and Running on the Lungomare
The Lungomare promenade stretches along the waterfront and is one of the easiest places to exercise in Vlorë. The paved path is popular with runners, cyclists and evening walkers, although it becomes much busier during the summer.
Morning is usually the most peaceful time for a run. Sunset is prettier, but you will share the promenade with families, tourists and plenty of slow-moving groups.

Pilates
Nibu Reformer Pilates is a dedicated Pilates studio in Vlorë offering 60-minute reformer sessions in small groups. The studio takes a more personal approach, making it suitable for beginners as well as people who already practice Pilates.
Reformer Pilates can help with strength, flexibility, posture and controlled movement without the atmosphere of a traditional gym. You can book a session online or message the studio through Instagram for current availability and prices.

Muay Thai Training
Vlorë also has an impressive martial arts option. Lamai Muay Thai Camp Albania offers Muay Thai training for beginners and experienced fighters, with a proper training-camp atmosphere by the sea.
It is a great choice if you want a challenging workout, want to learn a practical new skill or simply prefer something more interesting than a treadmill. Follow Lamai Muay Thai Camp Albania on Instagram for current schedules, training packages and events.
You can also find Lamai in my guide to unusual things to do in Vlorë, along with horseback riding, shooting, tastings and other experiences around the city.

Beach Volleyball and Cycling
Expats occasionally set up a volleyball net on the beach near Sunset along the Lungomare. The games are generally relaxed and social rather than seriously competitive. Local expat groups are the best place to check when a game is being organized.
Cyclists can follow the coastal road south from Vlorë toward Orikum. Early morning is usually the safest and most comfortable time, before the roads become hot and congested.
If your bicycle needs repairs or extra equipment, search for Vlorë Bike Center. It is a useful stop for baskets, kickstands, cables and other practical additions. Jumbo also carries inexpensive bells, seats and basic cycling accessories.

Help Bring a Ladies-Only Gym to Vlorë
Tirana has several gyms created specifically for women, but Vlorë still has none. That is one of the reasons I am working to bring ZanaFit, a ladies-only gym, to the city.
My goal is to create a welcoming and comfortable place where local and international women can exercise, build confidence and connect with one another. ZanaFit is currently in the fundraising stage, and every contribution or share helps move the project closer to opening.
You can learn more about my idea and support the project at ZanaFit.al

Fitness and Wellness in Durrës
Durrës also makes it easy to exercise outside. The promenade along Rruga Taulantia and Vollga provides a long, mostly flat route for walking or running beside the sea.
The waterfront becomes crowded in summer, so mornings are best if you want space to move without weaving through restaurant tables, children and evening crowds.
For something quieter, Adriatic Bodywork Studio has hosted guided meditation and wind-down classes near Energy Gym. Previous sessions cost around 1,000 lek and were cash only. Contact the studio directly to confirm upcoming classes.
Setting Up a Home Gym
A home workout setup can be useful if your nearest gym is inconvenient or you prefer exercising privately.
Flying Tiger Albania and Jumbo carry basic fitness items such as hand weights, resistance bands, mats and small accessories. Stock changes often and varies between locations.
In Vlorë, Buzi Store occasionally has dumbbells, doorway pull-up bars and other home exercise equipment.
For larger or more specialized items, Megatek is usually the best local option. Its online shop carries fitness mats, weighted vests, vibration plates and other equipment, with delivery available around Albania.
If you cannot find a particular size or style locally, Temu can be useful for lightweight items such as resistance bands, yoga straps, ankle weights, gym organizers and workout accessories. My Albania online shopping guide explains delivery, customs and what to expect when ordering from international websites.

Protein, Supplements and Healthy Food
Large pharmacies and supplement stores carry protein powder, vitamins and basic sports nutrition products, but imported brands can be expensive. iHerb is another option for protein powders, electrolytes, vitamins and supplements that may be difficult to find locally.
Delivery times and customs charges can vary, so compare the total price before ordering. You can also read my guide to gluten-free, vegetarian and organic eating in Albania for specialty grocery stores, plant-based proteins and healthier food options.

Active Tours and Fitness Experiences
Exercise does not have to happen inside a gym. Albania has excellent hiking, cycling, kayaking and rafting opportunities, with routes ranging from easy coastal outings to serious mountain treks.
GetYourGuide has guided hikes, outdoor adventures and day trips around Albania. Guided activities can be useful if you do not have a car, are unfamiliar with the trails or prefer not to head into remote areas alone.
Cyclists can also check BikesBooking for bicycle, scooter and motorcycle rentals where available.
A Few Practical Tips
Albanian sidewalks are not always ideal for running. Cracked pavement, missing bricks, parked cars and sudden changes in height are common, so dedicated parks and waterfront promenades are usually more comfortable.
A proper jogging stroller is also worth considering if you plan to run with a baby. Small standard wheels can struggle on uneven pavement.
Gym prices, outdoor classes and community events change regularly. Message the business or instructor before traveling across town, especially for classes organized through Facebook or Instagram.
