Albania may be welcoming more international brands every year, but its American food scene is still surprisingly small.
Search online for “American food in Albania,” and you will mostly find local restaurants serving burgers, wings and American-style breakfasts. But that’s not **exactly** what an American abroad wants when they are are craving something familiar.
This guide focuses on actual American-founded restaurant chains and grocery brands. The selection isn’t enormous, but you can still find a Whopper, a bucket of fried chicken and the occasional box of American cereal when homesickness strikes.
American food in Tirana
Tirana has by far the best selection of American chains in Albania.
You can find KFC and Burger King at several locations around the capital, including major shopping centers. Tirana East Gate, usually called TEG, has the largest concentration of American chains in the country.

That makes TEG the closest thing Albania has to a traditional American mall food court.
For American snacks and imported groceries, Baronesha Premium Food in Blloku is one of the better places to check. It carries a rotating selection of international foods, including some American candy, cereals, sauces, canned goods and frozen products.
Larger branches of Conad, Spar and Big Market may also carry familiar brands, although the selection varies considerably.
American food in Vlorë
Vlorë currently has Burger King and KFC, which can also be ordered through Wolt within its delivery area.
For snacks, try the larger supermarkets and imported-food shops around the city center and Lungomare. You may find products from brands such as Reese’s, Hershey’s, Kellogg’s or Heinz at smaller stores, but stock can be unpredictable.
American food in Durrës
Durrës has both KFC and Burger King which you can also order on Wolt.
As in Vlorë, the grocery selection depends heavily on what local supermarkets have recently imported. Larger supermarkets are more likely to carry American sauces, candy, peanut butter and cereals than small neighborhood markets.
American food in Sarandë
Sarandë has the most limited selection of the four cities with just one Burger King. It is also available for delivery through Wolt within the local delivery area
During the busy summer season, Sarandë supermarkets often expand their imported selection for international visitors. You may find American-branded candy, sauces, cereal and soft drinks, but availability changes frequently.
American chains you will not find in Albania
Albania still does not have many of the chains Americans may expect to see abroad.
At the time of writing, there are no confirmed Albanian locations for McDonald’s, Starbucks, Dunkin’, Taco Bell, Domino’s, Wendy’s, Subway, Krispy Kreme or Five Guys.
So while Albania has a handful of familiar names, it is nowhere near as saturated with American franchises as many other European countries.
For the best selection, head to Tirana (particularly TEG), or browse Wolt and Baboon before leaving your accommodation. Delivery apps are often the quickest way to confirm which chains are currently open in your city and whether they deliver to your neighborhood.
